If Adam and Eve Were Tempted Today

Earlier in the year I gave my students an assignment.  It was basically, "If Adam and Eve were being tempted today by the serpent in the garden, with what would the serpent use to tempt them?"  Here is one response from a smart student who is clearly paying attention in my class.

It reads:  "If I were the serpent in the garden today, I would tempt Adam and Even with an Ipod touch.  It is pleasing to the eyes (Lust of the Eyes), it can give them knowledge by using the internet (Pride of Life) and it is an "Apple" product (Lust of the Flesh)."

In What Christian Age Are You Living

A piece I wrote for Catholic Exchange in which some Lenten question of when Lent begins and how long Lent is are answered.

From the Article:

Choose the option that most corresponds to your understanding of the length of Lent to determine the Church age and possible location in which you are living:
Option 1:   Extending from Ash Wednesday to Holy Thursday (roughly six full weeks) for a total of 44 days of Lent.
Option 2:  Extending from Ash Wednesday, except Sundays are exempt, for a total of 38 days of Lent.
Option 3:  Lasting six full weeks, with Sundays exempt, for a total of 36 Days of Lent.
Option 4: Lasting eight full weeks, with Saturday and Sunday exempt, for a total of 40 days of Lent.
Option 5:  Beginning the Sunday after Ash Wednesday and ending on Holy Thursday for a total of 40 days of Lent.
Option 6:  Lent extends over six weeks beginning the Sunday after Ash Wednesday and penance is done only five days of the week for a total of 35 days of Lent.

The One Thing that God Cannot Do . . .

is contradict Himself.  This was the bonus on my exam for this quarter for my 8th graders.  I like the picture he drew.  I don't think it is a contradiction, but it is a good try.  Maybe he has a future as a video game designer/maker.

There's an App for That: Stations of the Cross

Ave Maria Press just released a FREE stations of the cross based on Pope John Paul II's biblical stations of the cross.  The meditations are done by Amy Wellborn and the art is by Michael O'Brian.  After skimming over it, it looks promising.

Here is the Link to read the description.
