That sounds really funny! I'd like to sit in the back of that class and watch people actually keep any pose. Then again, laughter helps me clear my mind, so maybe some benefit is had even if people can't hold the pose while laughing.

Wait a second. . . what exactly is Buddha laughing at in all those statues? Maybe the first 'stand up' yogi instructor?

On a side note, the pose "downward facing dog", well its name always makes me chuckle.

Also, I heard that St. Thomas Aquinas was a practical joker when he wasn't praying, writing, or having mystical experiences. But that could just be a rumor.

thanks 4 not making a mockery of the practice. question: how would you feel about standup yoga? that is, yoga where the teacher is doing a full on running comedy routine (and a very good one, at that) during the entire 1.5 hour class. while he's teaching. while you're working. where the instructor has all the sincerity of a yogi and seeker, without the overdone piety.

it's actually quite a dream! the problem is few are the individuals who can pull this off. most people can't be earnest and funny at the same time. it's a rare talent.
